University of Siena calendar

The academic year begins on October 1 and ends on September 30 of the following year, and is divided into two semesters, the first beginning in October and the second in March.

First-semester lessons are generally held from October to January, and second-semester lessons from March to June.

Exams are held in sessions. The session is normally scheduled in compliance with the principle of avoiding overlapping of lessons and exams.

For each subject there are three or four ordinary exam sessions, one of which at the end of the teaching period and another in the so-called “no-teaching” period in September. Each session has a variable number of exams. The date of the exam is the day on which the exam is given. For each session, there will be at least two exams at least two weeks apart for each subject.

Full information on the periods and dates of lessons, exams and thesis work is published on department web sites.
